1.
HOLY FOUNT 01:37
Light falling down on me. I can see, I can see so clearly. Muse, you descend gently. I will sing, I will sing unto thee. Mount, Holy Fount of all things. I can see, I can see You clearly.

It was fall on Mount March. Trees looked down on leaves lost. How those leaves made a sea of orange. Benjamin called outside to his kids, who all smiled as they ran dizzily in circles. He said, “Hear me, kids, who’ve made me rich. My cup is full. Let us pray these gleaming days may never dull, and may your hearts house Mount March forever. Amen." The Sun sank to the ground warily, without sound, as the Mount cast a velvet shadow. In the house by the fire, everyone gathered tired, and Aislinn wrapped each child in blankets. She said, “Children sweet, before you sleep, know I am here. No wind nor rain nor boundless plain shall cause you fear, for my love shall stream down Mount March forever. Amen.

MOUNT MARCH 04:16
Years had flown like a hawk with her prey in her sights. Daughter Dawn, with her house on the Mount's other side, prayed, "Light, come in and shine on my dear kin. How I've grown to give up all that I chase in my mind. Now, I count on You, Mount, outright to provide for my husband and our two children." Mount March standing all alone, unchanging. Mount March watching each sunset fading. Snow fell down with the land as its page painted white. With her seat by the frosted pane, Dawn set to write. "Dear prized parents, how I feel this distance. Every turn that I miss these days draws a line. Looking close, you will find the trace in my smile. Please tell Eden, no snow can slow our footsteps." Mount March standing all alone, unchanging. Mount March watching each sunset fading.
4.
Rio 06:10
On the eve of the wedding, as the sun was setting, Rio slipped on his coat. Heading for the tree line, with his sisters in mind, he carried father's axe alone. The moon cast borrowed light amidst a heavenly choir set in mythic shapes the ancients long had named. Rio paused to laud the Mount that birthed this land and its canopy stretched out infinitely. "Bless you, Rock, Unchanging One. With river pure, You quench our thirst. With mountain game, You fill our plates. Your towering frame fends off the Gale. Your pines alone have warmed our home." As he raised the axe to the sky to fell the tree of his eye, Rio heard a stir up the slope. On the moonlit Mount's side, with a leaden-swing stride, a panther tracked down the snow. Fearing for his life and what might be required, he charged the umbral beast, when lo, it froze to speak, "Rio, son of Benjamin, thou came to feed a fire, yet I clearly see there is more in store for thee, for you have Blessed the Rock, the Unchanging One. You see, the dawn of time grew like the vine, spreading its shoots to form new fruit. Mount March's gaze observed the change and simply stood, deeming it good." PANTHER "Rio, you were named with wisdom, salvation of this land flowing from the Fount of Ages to every open hand. One day, you will climb this incline to the tall, misty peak, discover endless, hidden treasure, and, finally, set it free." RIO "Please, dear wildcat of mystery, there's much for me to ask. How can you've seen the birth of all things and know what's yet to pass?" Before he could pose more questions, the Sun began to show, lightning flashed, the beast dissolved, and it left as blackish smoke. "How I've sought truth and love all my life, and I've found the path in one night!" With arms heavy with wood for the bride, Rio felt his heart burn inside.

The Wedding 06:51
EDEN "Dressed in my finest white, I reach the aisle and smile, for I see my love. To have him is enough. Blessed by my father's hand, crowned in flowers of this land, I walk towards my love framed in golden dusk. Just as the Mountain's river, my heart swiftly races, just as the river after the rain, and when I look upon you, I lose all my graces as when we first met in the rain. Every step I took since then, I'd take again." DAWN "Led by an amber glow, I follow o'er the snow with my fervent love and our little ones. Left with a final hill, I sprint with my fading will. Then I see the bride steeped in dance 'round the fire. Just as the Mountain's river, my heart swiftly races, just as the river after the rain, and when I reach your embrace, I laugh and can't contain it, as when we first played in the rain. Every step I took since then, I'd take again." EDEN "Dear Dawn, sister, traveller, brave one, friend. Am I dreaming? Have I lost my head? From Aurora, my wild-eyed baby sister, to you, Dawn, the eldest one. I feel the richness claimed by my parents to have all my family within my arm's reach." 'Round the fire, Rio made his choice, as his sisters, parents, friends rejoiced. RIO "Now's the time. I can't bear goodbyes. I feel Mount March calling me on! Into the dark, I shall depart to reach the Peak that has chosen me."

Auburn fox cubs played on a cool summer morn', tumbling on green plains since they had been born. In Mount March's shade, moving like a storm, bison teemed and grazed in subtle, shifting form. "I see you, Mount. You are the same!" Aurora cried from her place on the porch wrapped around her father's home. "Like the buck, we make our stake on this land that You have claimed, locking horns, pawing for our Father's home." Birds and rodents sought fruit from summer's yield. Every winter taught to make most of each meal. Hoping to get caught, children swarmed the field, and Aurora thought of life's unending wheel. "I see you, Mount. You were the same when we were kids as You are today. Now, we watch our kids play as we once did. Mountain true, show me grace. Be with my brother, Rio, on this day, for we've not seen him since Eden was wed." As she finished her prayer, Aurora looked up, and she saw blackish smoke there on the mountain top. It circled the peak like a laurel wreath, crowning the Mount the victor. Keen eyes could see figures beneath descending the Mount, a man and panther. - In the wake of these passing moments, Time takes me by the hand. Nothing missing, no nothing at all. Everything before my heart. I'm floating down the river leading me home. In a world where the people you know will take you by the hand. In a painting of blues and greens, everything just as it seems. I'm floating down the river leading me home. You and I were made for this. On and on and on and on it goes. The river flows. Carry me home.

about

MOUNT MARCH is a folktale/myth. The story centers around a mountain, Mount March, which is seen by its local inhabitants as a God-like figure. The Mountain provides water from its river, food from the animals that roam upon it, shelter and warmth from the wood of its trees - Mount March is the Provider. The story, beginning with a Greek-like invocation of a muse, spans the life of a family from the early childhood years to years later when the youngest daughter is a parent herself. In between, there's an expedition, a prophecy from a wild animal, a wedding, and a reuniting of the family. While Mount March is the setting of the story, It is also an ever-present character, felt in the thoughts and words of each member of the family.
